>In order to have a reverse DNS lookup for a certain ip address, do I have

have that subnet of ips register as a FQDN. Here is my situation .When good
old Bellatlantic gave me my ip addresses I wasn't as smart on the theory of
networks as I was then. I didn't know they should have given me 255 instead
of the 50 they gave me, so when I needed more address they have me a whole
entirely different ip address barely related on another subnet I.E.
209.3.204.207=www.ccoel.org subnet 255.255.255.192 and the other one is
209.3.6.130 subnet 255.255.255.128. Now when I do a reverse lookup on the
209.3.204 one it gives me my ptr record but with the 209.3.6 one it gives
me bellatlantics pointer record. Any help from you internet geniuses.
Even not having a whole class C, Bellatlantic can delegate you as the
authority over those IPs. There is a known trick in the DNS, whereas they
will CNAME each IP, one by one, to a sub-domain controlled by you. That is
the best solution, since you can control exactly what you want in the
reverse zone.
Let me know if you want more info on that.
