Hi Dusty.

I was reading about DNS, and you appears like the guru to me.
Please let me ask you and the list something.

I have 3 servers, with NT. One Primary Domain Controller, one BDC and the
MAIL Server.

The IMAIL, is loaded onto MAIL Server and also into the BDC for backup.

The PDC has the DNS running all the time. And IPs for each domain.
The BDC has also DNS, stopped, and different IPs for each domain contained
above.

I tried several times to set IMAIL on BDC running, together with DNS
service, to avoid any kind of trouble in the MAIL server, and this way, give
internet mail to my users.

But no way. If the DNS on BDC is UP, and IMAIL running ( or not ) the mails
sent to my domains are bounced. I know, is MY problem. Once DNS is down,
everything is ok.

Can you/the list help me to set DNS up on BDC together with PDC ?
Is there any restriction I dont know to have BOTH IMAIL Servers running, so
if one is down, the other ( without users/virtual domains/etc. ) can handle
emails ?

Below is the actual DNS file. No more mail pointer because of bounced.

Please, help me on this set up. :O

PDC DNS FILE:

Domain 1
@ NS alfa
@ MX 10 mail
alfa A alfa_IP_address_1
beta A beta_IP_address_1
mail A mail_IP_address_1

Domain 2
@ NS alfa.domain1.com
@ MX 10 mail
alfa A alfa_IP_address_2
mail A mail_IP_address_2

BDC DNS FILE:

Domain 1
@ NS beta
@ MX 10 mail
alfa A alfa_IP_address_1
beta A beta_IP_address_1

Domain 2
@ NS beta.domain1.com
@ MX 10 mail.domain1.com
beta A beta_IP_address_domain2

Regards

Andres.-
