Some more info:

To get IMail to show the 'sent' dialogs, you will need to make the SMTP
service 'interact' with the desktop (NT settings!!, Thanks Bob S). I've also
seen it show these when the IMail Client, File, Settings, Sending, is set to
'Show Status'.

If still in the Queue and you click off that message and then back on to it
and it no longer shows the To:/From: info, then that message has been
delivered. Refresh the Queue by clicking another tab and then back to Queue
and you should see less files, now (assuming no new or new have been
processed).

Are there a large number of files in the Queue? The ones IMail is processing
are shown with ~ or _ in name/extension. Are there less of these than there
are SMTP32 processes? Should not be. There should be one SMTP32 for each
message being processed. If there are more, then there may be one or messages
in the Queue that are the cause of the trouble. Best technique is to move all
the Q and D files in the \spool to another (temporary directory). Now move
back pairs of the Q and D files (have the same name after the first letter).
Find in Queue tab, and do the Send One. If it goes, great, try another. If not
and it leaves a SMTP32 running (hard to say exactly how long to wait, check
the log to see if it is still processing that file), then you may have
located. Do for each and move any that do not send back to the temp dir.
