Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to pre-check for existing
aliases.  What I did was modify my script so that it checks a list of "no
no" words ahead of time before it allows someone to use that for their
email address.  What I've done is just type the aliases I'm using into
this list, so that if someone tries to pick an existing alias for their
email, it will ask them to choose another name...
