Stack connect fail can come when the other server is too busy/slow to
respond, but I also had this pb (that Ipswitch fixed in my eval period 2+
years ago) when my ISP hosting guys setup the DNS values in my colocated NT
server wrong.
So, I'd suspect you've introduced some problems in your DNS changes, since
the stack connect fails for more than one remote MTA.
