I agree with this one.... setup an "Imail" folder ... have rules apply....
all forum stuff goes there.....
I then sift by subject.... delete any that I either don't know about, or
that I'm not interested in.

I gave up subscribing in digest mode for all my mailing lists for the
reason you cited. Instead I opt to receive the messages in real time and use
the "message rules" of my mail program to move all list messages to their
own Inbox-subfolder. It performs the same function because list messages
aren't mixed in with all of my personal e-mail. This way works better
because the messages continue to arrive in real time and replies have the
proper subject. Perhaps that will help your difficulty.
