Hi, we have an IMAP4 problem which Ipswicth support currently seem not to bother about (it has been reported but I guess they are busy with version 6.x...) . The problem is that the Imap4 service (when only slightly stressed) occasionally responds (extract from the Imail log): "12:06 22:42 IMAP4(00000163) sending "A1 NO AUTHENTICATE: unsupported authentication mechanism, credentials rejected" This would probably mean that a user is prompted with "incorrect userid/password" depending on the client. The test setup I am using is repeatedly login in with three different userid's from the same pc. This is a log from the client side when the login is ok * OK IMAP4 Server (IMail 5.08) A0 CAPABILITY * CAPABILITY IMAP4 IMAP4rev1 AUTH=CRAM-MD5 AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=LOGIN A0 OK CAPABILITY completed A1 AUTHENTICATE LOGIN + VXNlcm5hbWU6 YmVybmR0 + UGFzc3dvcmQ6 aGVwcA== A1 OK AUTHENTICATION successful A2 LOGOUT A2 OK LOGOUT completed Note that this happens approximately every10-15 login attempt so it is quite frequent (with only one user it never fails) ! I have tried with and without external database, with all versions from 5.06 to 6.0 and on different computers - all with the same result. The result can only mean two things (I think) 1) Imail's imap4 service has a serious bug as the above test shows that it fails already under very low preassure. 2) There is a problem with my test set-up; the imail4 configuration or the imap4 protocol handling. Can anybody help me ? Is Imail imap4 really used out there ? Do users complain about occasional imap4 login failures ? Can anybody spot any issues with test set-up ? Thanks Berndt
