Maaike, Did you consult the Knowledgebase? If not, I can point the way, see below... Is this a new installation of IMail or over an existing version?
If a new install, Is IMail working OK when you use its internal database? If it is, only then, should you think of trying the external DB option. What DB are you trying to use?
