hi all,

we have determined that the issue experienced yesterday was a single corrupted file.  we have 4 different download servers (that our customers access) and we put the same binary on all 4 servers.  the "same" binary (imail secure in this case) on 3 of the 4 servers was fine but the 4th was corrupted.  So we are looking to launch on Monday or so (we shy away from Friday launches).

here are the release notes:

Web Administration:
- Corrected the issue with adding IP addresses in Relay Mail for Addresses in the SMTP Settings.
- Web Messaging Public Contacts list has been added back into the IMail Web Messaging.
- Changes to LDAP Port are now being added to registry at KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OpenLDAP\Parameters\Urls.
Additional ports, other than port 389, now work.
- Instant Messaging user administration: After prompted to add a user, the install program no longer goes into a loop that shows the Add User screen, allowing the same user to be added multiple times.

Web Client:
- Corrected the issue with corrupt file attachments (with spaces in the filename) in FireFox.
- Corrected the issue with attachments (with an apostrophe (') in the filename) that caused a problem in Web Messaging.
- Corrected issue where Contacts are temporarily disappearing after upgrade.

Other Fixes:
- Install: IMail 9.0 install now detects the current path where IMail is installed when upgrading.
- SMTPD: Corrected the slow DNS response delays and the 250 response at the end of the message.
- SMTPD: Corrected problem that could cause excessive CPU usage.
- Queue Manager: Corrected issue with improper handling of certain MX records.
- SMTPD: Corrected problem that could cause excessive CPU usage.

bye for now,

kg

Sorry for asking but when do you supposed we'll see .02?

Hi Ben,

So after talking with a few folks, what we found is that there is a “main” listed in the News.rc file in the user directory.  This is what IMAP uses to know what folders the user is subscribed to.  There are two ways to get rid of it:

1) Delete Main from news.rc OR

2) Have the user unsubscribe to the IMAP folder using Outlook.

We still can't reproduce but after deleting the main from news.rc or unsubscribing to main, we're very interested in hearing if Main comes back.

bye for now,

Hi Kevin,

Does 2006.02 fix the problem with the Inbox and the main folder between WebMail and IMAP?

Thanks,

Ben

Subject: [IMail Forum] Update on IMail 2006.02...

Hi All,

So it turns out that some customers have encountered some upgrade issues (related to Queue Manager and we believe the licensing technology), enough so that, with great disappointment, we have decided to pull back the .02 and revert to .01, until we better understand what is happening.  We are working late tonite to figure out what it is and why it's only certain scenarios where this is happening.

For those who have already done the upgrade and it's working, you can continue running .02.

Best recommendation for those affected is to roll back to 2006.01.

Will keep you posted and sorry for the churn, especially for those affected.

Bye for now,

kg
