Holy cow! The whole concept of a spool is: files get created as mail
comes in and are deleted as mail goes out. A spool that "grows"
means mail isn't going out. Can you confirm everything is getting delivered?

How many files are too many in the spool? Our backup mail server's spool
seems to grow by the day, and is currently at 56K files. The file types
vary, but does this suggest a problem somewhere?
Thanks,
