Of course its true.

*Your*  server  was  the  one  that ultimately contacted their server to
deliver  the  e-mail. They don't care about the chain of forwarding hops
it  took  to  get  there, all they care about is the server (yours) that
gave it to them.

As others have mentioned, stop forwarding to AOL.
