ASSP doesn't offer filtering at the individual user level but for all mail going through the server. This is a problem because one person's spam might be another's desired email.
Look at it this way. User A likes to get newegg.com's sales flyer for what ever reason. User B dislikes getting it and keeps reporting it as spam. Eventually it builds up in the database with enough "spam reports" that the system considers it as spam and starts blocking it. User A is wondering what happened to his newegg.com sales flyers. The auto white listing feature could also be abused by users replying and inadvertently white listing a spammer. By the same token the spam reports and non spam reports database could be poisoned accidentally by users as well filing incorrect reports or forwarding spam emails. That isn't to say that this stuff couldn't be over come, but it would remove a lot of the automation that makes the system so nice. I do believe there is someone on the list that is using ASSP in an ISP environment. I can't think of their name, but they may chime in. I think works much better in a business setting where everyone has more or less the same concept of what is or is not spam and end users are easily policed by the network admin. It cut our spam flow by 95% and after setup has been really easy to work with, with a minimum investment of my time. -Chris -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Martin Schaible Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2006 8:50 AM To: Chris Moody Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] ASSP HI Chris, > I see where it could become troublesome for ISPs or Hosting providers however.
