I personally don't think having to pay a recertification cost is not unrealistic. If you bought a fried pix off ebay do you really think its fair to pay $240 for a support contract and have them send you a replacement unit?
Not to mention in most cases you are paying for relicensing the IOS since that is a non-transferable item. So why not just buy a new PIX? You can get a 501 for less than that. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Darin Cox Sent: Wednesday, October 25, 2006 10:27 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] OT: It is worth it to buy the SA? Not if you buy used hardware, though. For example, in order to purchase a support contract for a Pix to get firmware upgrades, the Pix has to be certified, at a cost of $240 for the chassis, and $240 per interface card. So assuming you take out any additional interface cards, leaving only the 2 internal interfaces, you still have $720 for certification, plus $240 for the support contract.
