Mapping like that should work I was thinking you were doing something
else. How have you set up your database? You can e-mail me off the list with
this if you want. Bob -----Original
Message----- I've
mapped a network drive path to the db from the Imail server to the
CFserver....I also checked the Imail knowledgebase and there was an article
stating it was possible. I'll
try placing the db on the local Imail machine to see if it works then. Dave Wilson Co-Founder

[IMail Forum] Cannot Get External Access DB to work Well unless you know a special
way to install the Access database, Access databases can only be accessed on
the machine it is on. If you want to have a database on a different machine you
need to use SQL. Bob Everland -----Original Message----- Hi all, I've been trying in vain for a few hours to get the External
database connection to work. I've successfully set-up the System DSN in NT. The actual db is on
another machine on our network which is also registered as a DSN of different
name on that machine. The reason for this is that I am running ColdFusion on
the other machine and am using the db for various aspects of a site. I am also
intending to integrate automated creation of email accounts on member
subscription to the web site. I have ensured that connections are valid between machines and
indeed I am able to add/update users in the external db using Imail
administrator and vice versa. The problem is that as soon as I try logging into the (testing123)
account I have set up, using either web based access, or Microsoft Outlook
Express, the username and password won't authorize so I can't receive any mail.
Outgoing seems to be fine as this is simply smtp. I would be very grateful if someone could help as we would like
this up and running asap. Regards, Dave Dave Wilson Co-Founder CFUG Ireland 224, Lisburn Road Tel: 02890 225 776 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |
