Hooking the SAM side of the user creation process? Well, I guess my expectations never strayed that far. :) > It's supplied with Imail afterall and it would be nice if it were an > option. As it stands, LDAP is really no more than a bundled service > with one lone little utility that reads the Imail database to get > some info. That's pretty much exactly what it is. But as far as interoperability with third-party LDAP SDKs, OpenLDAP is vastly superior to the homebrewed LDAP service that used to come with IMail, and it's at least equivalent to the LDAP APIs of other mail suites. Ipswitch made a smart strategic step in bundling the widely-respected OpenLDAP with the suite. Just don't expect custom OS- or product-centric hooks into it. IMail uses the standard LDAP API, plus reading/writing the startup conf. > How would you suggest adding aliases to AD? Manually create contacts > for each of them? I would maintain the aliases in AD using a multi-valued attribute like proxyAddresses, then run a script file to *push* the whole alias list to IMail. That way, associated aliases are easy to look up from AD U&C, and they'll get deleted along with user objects. As AD is the "master," aliases will get removed from IMail on the next script run. You could also use separate AD contact objects instead of multi-valued attributes; the rest of the process would be the same. --Sandy ------------------------------------ Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/download/release/ Defuse Dictionary Attacks: Turn Exchange or IMail mailboxes into IMail Aliases! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/exchange2aliases/download/release/ http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/ldap2aliases/download/release/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
