Subject: [IMail Forum] Imail vulnerability, or do we have a Virus

According to the logs the
messages originated from our mail server. Have we been exploited by the
Imail vulnerability, or do we have a Virus?

You are using Imail 8.15 with nothing in front of it. You don't seem to be a simple open relay (I tried to send through your server) so you may be exploited.

You need to research the past messages about securing your install against the Imail SMTP vulnerability.

You should upgrade to 8.22 at least. Failing that you _must_ put something in front of Imail to protect it. Any SMTP gateway will do and there are many to choose from, from pricey to free.

We use ASSP, hMailserver & ClamAV for free, and Trend Micro Interscan VirusWall (on it's way out with the AV performance of the free solutions beating it all the time) for pricey.

Good luck,

Doug Traylor
