This is kind of a late reply but it might help somebody.
I ran into a problem where mailman on a linux server was not correctly
stripping attachments and html. The solution I found is stripmime.pl

I haven't tried it on a windows machine but it is perl so it might be
possible to make it work.
On linux it runs just before the message is put into the temporary
mailman mailbox for a particular list. Somebody wiser about Imail than
me can figure out if it could be wired in.
I've had real good luck with it. Sometimes it munches too many line
returns but that is the only issue I've found.
