We have an old 7.15 mail server that we're trying to retire. There is only
a little bit of action left on it, but we can't quite kill it yet. The
problem we're having is that the IMAP service will periodically crash.
I have the IMAP service set to restart and, looking at the Event Log, I can
see where it will attempt to restart 10 or 20 times during a "session."
This problem only shows up maybe once every week or two. Sometimes, a
session like this can run for hours, other times for only a single hour.
This system is old, but has been stable and mostly unchanged for years.
What kind of factors could cause this problem and how can I investigate it
further?
