Hi,

I asked about this the other day and didn't get any response. I realize we're talking about an old version, but I'd like to understand what's going on. Is it a latent bug in that version of the software, a collapse due to a hack attempt, or something else. Here is my original post and any help would be appreciated.

We have an old 7.15 mail server that we're trying to retire. There is only a little bit of action left on it, but we can't quite kill it yet. The problem we're having is that the IMAP service will periodically crash.

I have the IMAP service set to restart and, looking at the Event Log, I can see where it will attempt to restart 10 or 20 times during a "session." This problem only shows up maybe once every week or two. Sometimes, a session like this can run for hours, other times for only a single hour.

This system is old, but has been stable and mostly unchanged for years. What kind of factors could cause this problem and how can I investigate it further?

Thanks,

Ben
