Well no one answered this so we did some research.
Seems that iMail has a 31 character limit for the logon id (when using
smtp). This is documented, though not easily found on their web site.
This means that if you have a long domain name, which some registrars are
allowing, like:
reliable-web-site-hosting.com
You cannot use smtp to send mail as authentication will fail if you are
using virtual email and need to specify a user id like:
user id: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
password: ********
We verified this with several different email clients. Web messaging still
seems to work. Pop does not seem to have this limitation (it may be
greater), only smtp.
This was found in iMail 5.x, has this been increased in Mail 6.x?
If not would the dev team please take note and fix this.
