We have.
And I just tested to produce that problem with Netscape Messenger (4.7) and I was able
to create the problem.
Reason why this is happening is (I think) related to attachment encoding method.
We have in our work old MS-Mail 3.2 smtp-gateway mahcine and half of our mail is going
thru that gateway to Imail and elsewhere.
Exchange client for Win9x is only able to UUENCODE attachments (both sending and
receiving) and when someone sent message containing attachment to ms-mail -> Imail, it
will open in "code mode" when clicked in web-messaging.
It seems like Imail support partitially uuencode method. It will show Attach.gif well
but it cannot be clicked like normal cases. This causes another problem: if client
uses Netscape 4.x and right-click that attachment link and selects "save link as" and
saves that. It will be corrupted. When this same thing is done with IE 4.x -> 5.x
("save target as"), the attachment will open normally, there's no problem.
If someone wants to try and reproduce this problem easily, do the following.
Open Netscape Messenger
Click new message
Select TO address, say something nice in subject line.
Select Attach button
Choose file (any file, not just pictures)
Select View -> Options and enable following: UUENCODE instead of MIME for attachemts.
Send message
Wait.. and then go and click on the web-messaging that attachment link.
