There is a lot of murky politics and legalities around black
lists/holes. Commercial black listing is illegal, that's why this black
listing sites won't publish publicly their black lists.
Putting black hole support into Imail is clearly within Ipswitch's
technical reach, but I would not be surprised if they have political/legal
reasons for not doing it.
Unfortunately, the competition, commercial and open source, does support
blackholing and it appears to be quite effective. Reverse lookups also help.
We are looking into building our own version of a www.MailShield.com type
of front-end based on FreeBSD and an open source MTA (sendmail, etc), that
would hook into black lists, do reverse lookups, and maybe some RegEX
filtering rules, and then forward to Imail. Not for "toot sweet" but we're
looking into it.
If anybody with Unix systems experience wants to help out....
