Dan,

I had this same setup, same machine specs and all. I had a problem where
over the course of the day cpu would hit 100% only a reboot would fix it.
Also, the webshield software will open up an open relay to your server (I
ended up on MAPS blacklist). Webshield has anti-spam controls but they
aren't as nice as ipswitch's. I also has a problem where I thought
Webshield was discarding messages - and of course nothing showed up in the
Ipswitch log. I uninstalled it until the new 4.5 engine comes out. I think
the current version is very buggy.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Mail scanning

I am planning to start using McAfee WebShield to scan mail. I need to run
it on the same server as IMail which is also our main file/print server. We
only have 88 email users (mostly pop3 accounts) of which about 50 use this
server for file/print services. IIS is also running our Intranet from this
computer. The computer is a dual PIII 400 with 256M RAM and a raid 5 array.

The plan is to change IMail to port 2525 (I found the knowledgebase article
on that).
Install WebShield and point it to localhost:2525.
This means that my users will be directing their outgoing messages to
WebShield vice IMail.

My questions are:
Will this be too much of a load for this server?
Will I need to change the users outgoing mail to 2525 so that IMail gets it
first or will WebShield handle it?
Am I missing anything in the changes I want to make?
Am I asking for trouble by setting it up this way?
