Multiple processes. Typically SMTP processes it appears. I could be way off
base here, but I'd think that with the flow of traffic we have, the CPU's
shouldn't be averaging about 75% utilization most of the time. I could see
this if we had only one CPU. But it's a dual. Also, if I shut down iMail,
the CPU Utilization drops down to a nice 4%.

Just a curious question, purhaps you've mentioned it before and I've
overlooked it. If you go into NT's Task Manager - is it a "single" process
burning all the CPU cycles or multiple process that have been spawned?

For about the dozenth time.....IMAIL is the ONLY thing running on this
server. I have been asked this question at least twice before, just today
alone......

Baseline is NOTHING RUNNING, except IMAIL.

The machine, yet again, is a Dell PowerEdge 2200. Dual P2-266 system.
256MB of RAM.

The RAM utilization is EXTREMELY low. Typically between 40 and 70 MB. The
CPU utilization is very high. Typically low end at about 30% on each
processor and spiking out at 100% on each processor.

I have even went so far as to drop SMTP queue time to 10 minutes. To no
avail. I have tried dropping the MaxQueProc to 10. To no avail. These had
ZERO effect on the CPU utilization, NOR on delivery times. There are
several THOUSAND files in the spool directory from TODAY ALONE. I have used
the commandline tool to purge all from previous days. The size of these
files varies from 96 bytes to about a Meg and a Half.

Again, in closing, I say that there are NO OTHER APPLICATIONS RUNNING OTHER
THAN iMAIL AND IT'S ASSOCIATED SERVICES. I have even pared those down.

Okay, Since no-one is questioning your creditials here, let's FOUCS on your
problems with iMail. We would all really like to help you out.

You have not given enough information for anyone on this list to help you.
Please give us some DETAILED information as to what is happening on your
system. What are your "baslelines"? What are your Task Cycles? Are you
running IIS? etc.... The more info you can give us... the better we can
help you.

Ummm.....I am aware of how a good baseline of NT should look. I'm not a
newbie at this. There are no other issues with the system. Contrary to
what you may believe, not all MCSEs are paper MCSEs.
