Well, part of the problem lies with the school environment. We don't get
rid of machines until they're headed for the dumpster (and often not
even then--I have several Mac Plus models in a storeroom. Would clean
'em out, but the trash is up several flights of stairs. Probably will
give 'em away to students and let THEM carry them out).

We have many faculty members using old Macs (mostly) which can't run
larger browsers and can't be so easily upgraded as PCs ("4MB ought to be
enough for anyone"), so NS 2 is still a concern, just not a very big
one.

We've got a hefty investment in Macs of more recent vintages, and
several folks are still using applications with no real PC equivalents
(common in the ed biz). I'm "professionally agnostic" on which platform
to support. We try our reasonable best to keep 'em all running, while
suggesting that newer models or a different platform might be a better
choice. But it's not my position to dictate what best serves the end
user.

I realize this is an extreme position, and not as well suited for more
commercial concerns, but that's how I see it from this perspective. (So
there!)
