If I might pass this on, the general public seems to still have a large
number of older pre-Pentium machines out there and are holding firm on their
2.x and 3.x browsers. I shudder to think of what it would be like to surf
the web on one much less using the more demanding 4.x and 5.x browsers. IE5
uses considerably more resources than it's predecessors.
You can force change in a closed corporate environment but when you deal
with the public you have to work with what ever the customer has. A nearby
college's teaching hospital just disposed of all of it's old P60/75's (not
judge to be Y2K compliant) and 200 of which were shipped to Fayetteville,
NC. They are showing up in the local market w/14.4 modems, 1Mb video, 8Mb
RAM & 1 Gb Hd. Try working with that. (BTW they tried to give them to
schools free but even the grade school administrations wouldn't take them)
