Cal,

I'm glad you said that because I'm having some users with this problem. I
suggested after figuring out that it happened with users on OE 5.0 to switch
to Outlook 2000 to see if they get the attachments. One user reported that
she was able to receive the attachments without a problem once she switched
to Outlook 2000 since most of the users sending her attachments are using
Outlook 2000.

On both occasions this happened with outside sales reps & internal reps who
were using OE 5.0 when 90%+ of users whom were sending them attachments were
on Outlook 2000. With both users I suggested raising the "Server Timeout"
to 5 minutes instead of the default of one minute and this seemed to solve
the problem. With the most recent user who's an outside sales rep
connecting via dial-up I suggested both switching the "Server Timeout" to 5
minutes but when that alone didn't solve it...switching to Outlook 2000 did
solve it.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Outlook/OE troubles

With apologies for those subscribed to the isp-nt list:

Here is a posting from isp-nt showing that not all Outlook problems are
IMail's fault:

"Using NT 4.0 SP6 + Exchange 5.5 SP3.
Some of clients are using Outlook Express 5.0 , others are using MS
Outlook.

Problem :
When a MS Outlook client sends a mail with an attachment , attachment
doesn't deliver to client that uses OE 5.0."

One reply suggests it may not be Outlook or Exchange's fault, either,
but an Ethernet problem. Whatever. Not all email problems are
immediately the fault of the server. Or necessarily the fault of the
client, either.
