Hi,
I think you will find it was me, that DID have good luck with Virus
scanning, On one of the Imail servers I look after.
Iam Using WEBSHEILD, Once I had spent hours sorting it out and get it right
it has been fine, we did have a problem a few weeks ago where one of it
services frontend.exe was taking 100% of processor, could not be stopped so
I killed it then restarted and it's been fine.

Server Spec.
Compaq Proliant 400 (P3 400 - I think)
256Mb Ram
2 x 8Gb drives
NT 4 Sp6a

Also running, IIS, Websheild, Imail 6.03

As Iam typing this Email, The Virus Scanner has just gone Nuts with the
frontend.exe process again. just got to Tech support straight away! It's
going to be a good day!

Thanks

I'd stay away from WebShield if possible. If all you care about is making
sure known viruses don't get through, it's 100% reliable at that. But, I've
found it very flaky and finnicky with next to zero support. Just as an
example, I found out this morning that when you try to stop the service, it
allows new incoming connections, and only stops when there it has nothing
else to do (if you have a busy mail server, it might not be able to stop at
all). When you have 500 E-mails that got backed up, and have to keep
stopping and restarting the service to send out a few at a time, that one
little flaw/feature is a nightmare. Then there was the time that it sent
out 100+ megs of duplicated E-mails (the logs show the messages coming in
once, and getting sent out 3 times).

There was someone here who had recently mentioned that they had had good
luck with a virus scanner, but I don't recall which one it was. I'll see if
I can find it, if it doesn't get posted here soon.
