Well, that would be easy. But it would also make it easy for folks to subscribe and
unsubscribe other folks up for your lists, if they know only your email address. Hey,
don't like someone's comment on the list? Go unsubscribe him or her at the website!

Unless you want to deal with that, plus a whole bunch of unsubscribe issues, better to
have a system send out an email to the person for confirmation. We use ColdFusion for
this, having CFPOP check the box to which the confirmed reply messages come back to,
and only then subscribing or unsubscribing the person. I believe Ipswitch's perl
solution has a similar anti-fraud system for subscriptions.
