We only use Intel PRO 100+ onboard management or PCI adapters in our NT/W2K
servers because the drivers are rock solid and have proven to support loads
of IP addresses without introducing high CPU load problems that have been
seen on other lesser cards. We have a number of IMail 4.07 servers running
512 IP's each quite happily.

Not all cards+drivers are really happy with 100's of ip's. It could be a
pb at that level.
I've NEVER heard complaints about the Intel 10/100's EPro Express
cards/family plus board-level driver developers like them because they are
efficient in not loading the CPU.
