Sorry, I did not mean to upset you! (maybe I mis-read the tone of your
reply?) I was just trying to help you understand the IMail processes. Once
we eliminate these possibilities (we both are sure of the configuration)
then we can look at other possible causes.
HOSTS file is \winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (no extension). Inclusion
there could make IMail think it is 'local'.
Check of DNS for that domain reveals:
gmcofa.com.
nameserver = N2.gmcofa.com.
nameserver = NS.gmcofa.com.
192.168.0.4
192.168.0.2
63.144.218.218
63.144.218.220
10, 63.144.218.219.
I'm afraid that MX record is not good (although you say it is correct, I do
have to differ on that). An IP in an MX record is not valid according to RFC
and IMail cannot deliver to a domain with an IP in the MX.
You could 'get around' that by putting the correct entry in the HOSTS file,
then IMail (and NT!) won't have to look in DNS. Of course, the real solution
is to let the domain owner know of his 'mistake' and have him correct it.
See, once one has enough info, solutions are not far away! Of course,
getting the needed info is always the time consuming part. Although this one
only took 2 replies. Not bad, really.
