I just tried installing imail again, then set the services to manual and
rebooted. Then with the services down, I tried the patch, and it failed on
iLDAP.exe again.

Sorry, I did not see that!
One last try: Set all IMail services to 'manual start', then restart the
computer and try the patch. What is date/time/size of ILDAP.EXE? Does that
match that found when looking at the full IMail you have?
If above does not work, then I would do the same, but this timeinstead of
patch, install full IMail version, as I suspect ILDAP.EXE is not correct
file (may be from earlier version?).
