I have a client who travels to many offices. He has a couple of offices
where he cannot access his webmail which is standard imail 6.05 webmail
on port 80. The only commonality between offices is that each place he
cannot access webmail has a firewall. The firewall is setup to allow
web browsing so I don't know what the problem is. Has anyone else run
into this? In case I havn't explained it accurately I am attaching a
copy of my clients last email about the problem.

I mentioned to you earlier about problems I was having checking my mail
at
customer sites using iMail -- it frequently kicks me back to the login
screen whenever I attempt to reply to a message, send a composed
message, etc.
I've done some more experimenting with this, and have found that it only
happens when the customer site has an Internet connection with a
firewall
to prevent remote access to their site. If they have an open network,
or I
use a dial-up access, it isn't a problem.
Are you aware of what requirements iMail has to use it behind a
firewall? I'm at a customer site today that has a total firewall --
only
outgoing web browsing and e-mail access are allowed -- and I have
confirmed
that I can't use the iMail with the web browser at this site. I
experimented with opening up access to your IP address for the
iMail server, but that didn't help so it must be coming back to the web
browser with some kind of authentication request that isn't getting
passed
back to the local browser.
I went to the iMail web site to see if I could find any useful
information
there, but didn't see anything relating to the firewalls. Any
suggestions
on where it would be? I can experiment with changing the firewall
settings
to test out theories, but I'm not sure where I need to look.
