We have just added a new program to our suite of free tools at
http://www.declude.com/tools . This one, called "Test Mail Sender", will
send copies of the eicar.com test virus to make sure that your mail server
virus scanner is working properly.
Why use it rather than send an E-mail to yourself with the eicar.com test
virus? First, you don't have to worry about setting off your local virus
scanner. Second, this tool can simulate many different ways that a virus
could be attached to your E-mail (for example, as a .ZIP file, an embedded
MIME segment, in an RFC822 attachment, etc.).
