I had a similar problem after installing IE 5.5 on Windows 98.  After upgrading I got a crash in a file (I can't remember the name) and after checking out that file I found that it reported itself as the Win2K version.  I replaced it with the file from a system running IE 5.01 and it was OK.  I also had problems on a Win2K computer with IE 5.01 on it and it worked after upgrading to 5.5.  I can't remember all the details but you might be able to find the earlier threads in the archives.

Subject: [IMail Forum] LDAP crashing Outlook

Has anyone had problems with LDAP crashing MS Outlook clients?  Some of my users use the LDAP server built into IMail and some have no problems but with some others OUTLOOK.EXE will crash while trying to resolve a name.  We figured out one such case when we set the LDAP “max results” number to 500 on the server side.  The client was not able to handle all the results (we think) so it crashed.  But we set that back and it worked but we still have the occasional user that Outlook (and Outlook Express) will crash on while using LDAP.

Any help is very much appreciated!
