I have been trying to get attachments working in WebMessaging for some time. I have tried the support list and got nothing. When a user using outlook sends a message to a user using WebMessaging we get about 50% failure rate. Ususally what happens is the client just waits for it to download and IE just continually tries to load, nothing happens. All of the clients are on a WAN and the attachements are usually only a few hundred Kilobytes at the most, it should only take a matter of seconds but I have left the client loading for an hour and more with no results, or I get an error message (sorry I can't tell you what it is because my clients usually click ok without acutally reading it, I have asked them to try and pay attention). I have spoken on the email list about this problem and the only answer any of us who are getting this problem (and yes there is more than one of us) are getting the answer from you that you will get back to us to see if there is a problem. I am writing this to tell you there is definatly a problem. It may be a problem with the way outlook encodes attachments, but regardless IPSwitch should find out how outlook encodes, and ensure that WebMessaging is capable of reading attachments from outlook, outlook is one of the most popular email software out there. I have also tried contacting your tech support in the past on this issue, I was not given any indication that anyone would solve the problem, just that they would look into it. Jeff Johnston Systems Support Comcare Health Services 519-963-3651 FYI I have attached a few emails from the list to show you that there are a few complaints, I am not the only one with this problem. I have also attached this message to the forum to let others know that I am trying to follow up on this.
Jeff, Way back when, .... I found that if you used Web MSG to forward the message to yourself, this could often fix 'attachment' problems. True it is not a 'fix' but if it works, maybe it is of some value to you as a 'workaround'.
