Check you service startup settings.
Start > Settings > Control panel > Services
Scroll to MSSQLServer and double click it.
The service dialog box will open and you should see a Log on as: section.
Change to system or a user with appropriate permissions.

I restarted my NT server that is running SQL 7.0. When it came back up SQL
wouldn't start due to a LOGON FAILURE. I can not go into SQL to chang ethe
properties because it is not running. Does anyone know how it change the
server logon information with out the service being started?
