Since when did bouncing ever stop a CDROM? :))
And on our Imail server, I've got now-dead customer accounts that
were/are on valid mailing lists, to which IMGate has been returning
100's of fatal "5XX unknown user" to for months and they still keep sending.
One exceptionally Blue Monday Morning (this seems to get worse with
age), I got fed up with one list that just kept spamming us with list
msgs to dead accounts. I had asked nicely earlier for removals. I
mean, this stupid "French Web newspaper" is supposed to "get" the
net, n'est-ce-pas? Why aren't these jokers using a list server that
does automatic bounce management and removal?
So I went to their web site, found that they had trustfully (ie,
cluelessly but touchingly naive) put about 10 of their own personal
mail addresses on the "contacts page", and I forwarded about 2000 of
my IMGate reject messages of their msgs to our dead users, to each of
them. I don't know if they "get" the net any better now, but they
don't send us any list mail any more. :)))
