This could be way off base but I've seen an intermittent problem like that
in Outlook when the client lost contact with the server and then Windows
restored the connection. The only way to get Outlook to behave was to
reboot. Are you experiencing a lot of collisions on your network?

Subject: [IMail Forum] Intermittent SMTP issues w/outlook & IMail 5.0

Hi, I've got a unique problem and I was hoping someone could give me a clue
what the deal is.

I have a number of customers who are experiencing intermittent outgoing mail
issues. Outlook will popup the username and password box (no error message
given) and will not send the mail to the server. This doesn't happen every
time they try to send, just several times over the last few days. We've got
the server set to require SMTP authentication, so they HAVE to have a
password to send, but it's been working fine for over a month now.

I can log into the browser interface for ANY of these customers and
everything works just fine, so it leads me to believe that there is some
issue between the client and the server, however, the fact that it's
intermittent and random has me very confused.

I'm experiencing the issue myself and know for a fact that my client
settings are right. They're the same settings I've had for months. Has
anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks,

Tianna Thomas
