RAID 5 lets me sleep all night and maintain far more systems than I could if
each drive crash were an immediate emergency. Performance is not as
important for the OS and mailboxes. If your system is handling a large
volume of mail, you may actually need two sets of mirrored drives in
addition to the RAID 5 set for the mailboxes - one set for the spool and one
for the logs.

no, RAID 1, RAID5 is the slowest
