In that case, the problem can't be with web messaging. It is either that
Outlook is sending the attachments that way, or IMail's SMTP service is
doing it. But, it's very unlikely that IMail's SMTP service would be able
to do that.
Outlook has a bad habit of assuming that the recipient of E-mail also is
running Outlook (it doesn't normally do this, but occasionally when using
Exchange it happens). If it thinks the recipient is running Outlook,
Microsoft will use any and all proprietary protocols they see
fit. Typically, this means taking all attachments and combining them into
a winmail.dat file. It sounds like this may be the same problem.
I would recommend sending E-mail from the same computer that sent the
E-mail that ended up being corrupted, but send a copy both to your server
and another server, to see if the problem happens there as well. I'm
guessing the same thing will appear on the other server, and that Outlook
is corrupting the attachments.
