The idea behind the Postfixgate Anti-Spam database was to make it an
effective replacement for MAPS, and ORBS type databases which are remote,
and you have no local control over. With the Postfixgate system you have
direct control, and the listings are removed based on your request as a
member actively using the database.
This is a new concept which can only be effective if it works well for most
of the people most of the time, but it looks like it has too many kinks yet
to be a real subscription service. I will suspend all mandatory
subscriptions until further notice. Anyone who would like to signup as a
Postifxgate member/tester/participant is welcome. Simply go to the
www.postfixgate.com site, and fill out the membership form so I can keep
track of who is a member, blah blah blah. Once you have signed up you will
be give the username and password to the member's directory. You can e-mail
IP addresses, e-mail addresses, and domains you would like added or removed
from the list. Removals will go out to everyone who is a member to be sure
they have an opportunity to remove those listings until the next daily
update is posted.
Membership dues are now completely voluntary. Anyone who has already sent
their payment can request it to be returned, or they can call it a donation
to help maintain the Postfixgate Database service. I do have other
businesses and Postfixgate will be time consuming, but there is a real need
for a real alternative in the Spam fight. This is the perfect group of
people to handle this project. Len you inspired this effort.
