Hello,

I am running Imail v6.06 with all of the patches on Windows 2000 AS , all
patches.
I have been informed lately that some users ( including myself ) when using
the web mail and while attempting to reply, delete and even compose messages
an error window comes up saying that the page can not be displayed. This
also is a random deal.
It's nothing I have seen before ( or noticed ) but is weird.

Any ideas?

Jeff

I do not know about v4 but in 6 and 7 you would relay mail for but put no Ip
addresses. then have your users set the SMTP authentication in their mail
client.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Relay problems

I am running IMail server V4 on a WinNT computer. The computer is co-located
at an ISP. This is a sideline business and I host several domains, mostly
for non-profit organizations, including some with email servers. Spammers
have found my server and are using it heavily. My users are not part of the
local network where the server is running and are scattered around many
states and are not part of any single network. I probably have fewer than 25
actual users, but they are spread among the domains. Some of the
organizations have list servers, but most posters are not actual users in
their domain.

>From what I can see, IMail does not provide SMTP security for this
situation. If I select No Relay, my users cannot send mail. I can select
Relay Mail For but I do not know from what IP address any user will be
sending mail because many use local dialup access and don't have fixed IP
addresses. If I select Relay Mail For Anyone I am open to spammers.

I have checked the documentation for IMail V7 and don't really see anything
that would solve my problem, but perhaps I am missing something. Perhaps one
of you can help me.

Will IMail provide the protection I need, and do I have to upgrade to V7 to
do so? If so I will probably have to go out of business, since my operation
is very small and I can't afford the $995 upgrade price.
Is there another email server software that will provide the capability I
need?
Is there a different approach I should use to accomplish what I need to do?

Many thanks for all who read this and consider my plight!
