I am running IMail server V4 on a WinNT computer. The computer is
co-located at an ISP. This is a sideline business and I host several domains,
mostly for non-profit organizations, including some with email servers.
Spammers have found my server and are using it heavily. My users are not part
of the local network where the server is running and are scattered around many
states and are not part of any single network. I probably have fewer than 25
actual users, but they are spread among the domains. Some of the organizations
have list servers, but most posters are not actual users in their domain. From what I can see, IMail does not provide SMTP security for this
situation. If I select No Relay, my users cannot send mail. I can select Relay
Mail For but I do not know from what IP address any user will be sending mail
because many use local dialup access and don’t have fixed IP addresses. If I
select Relay Mail For Anyone I am open to spammers. I have checked the documentation for IMail V7 and don’t really see
anything that would solve my problem, but perhaps I am missing something.
Perhaps one of you can help me.
Many thanks for all who read this and consider my plight! Dave Violette |
