I've looked at this a little closer.  The scheduler is pretty bad, but the
actual updater.exe appears to work pretty well.

I still prefer my own ftp scripts, but if you want to use the built-in updater
program schedule updater.exe under the NT scheduler service, and forget about
the f-prot scheduler.
