Nathan, As I mentioned, the problem is only in sending mail..they receive mail just fine. Good thought though, I checked my mail server's anti-virus but this did not solve the problem.

We had a similar problem with a customer that periodically stopped them retrieving mail from POP3 accounts. They received a similar "time out" message but for the POP3 protocol.
