Thanks. Not to beat a dead horse, but...I gathered a series of comments on
the web about the different attachment problems and sent a message to the
senior engineer again, and "again" got the same reply. Implication was that
none of the problems can be reproduced.
Most of our users are on Macintosh computers. I can reproduce the problem by sending an MS Word attachment saved on a Mac without an extension. Attachments becomes unreadable every time. The way we got over it is to set the save preference so it always adds an extension.
