That's purely a routing issue.  Open up a command shell and type
'route print' to see your routing table.

If you don't know how to interpret the table, try
'tracert <remote SMTP server>' to see what direction it goes.

Note that depending on your network environment the interface the
packets go out on could vary depending on the remote SMTP server.
