That's probably not an issue related to the list itself, but a
configuration issue.
First, you need to decide whether or not you want to accept mail that is
sent to @mail.example.com. Right now, mail isn't accepted to
@mail.example.com.
If you decide that you do NOT want to accept mail to @mail.example.com,
you'll need to make sure that IMail doesn't know that mail.example.com
exists. For example, if it shows up as a domain alias, you'll need to get
rid of it.
If you decide that you DO want to accept mail to @mail.example.com, you
should have an MX record for mail.example.com that is the same as the MX
record for example.com, and you'll need mail.example.com as a domain alias
for example.com in the IMail settings.
