Yes, I have been able to set up VPN connections using MS PPTP on several of the laptops. While this solution does work, its not as stable as I'd like it to be.
I do have some of them use the webmessaging on 8383, however they whine because they don't like the interface. ( I usually ignore them though) I don't know anything about the SSL web messaging.
